The Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati, on September 6, signed an agreement with Airbus India Pvt. Ltd. to collaborate in the aviation and logistics sectors and to equip 2,000 people from Assam and the Northeast with industry-ready skills.
The intiative marks a historic step towards meeting the rising demand for skilled professionals in the Northeastern region through the establishment of a Global Skilling Centre in Aviation and Logistics by IIT-Guwahati.
Furthermore, the centre will also enhance youth employability through targeted training programmes.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also attended the MoA signing between IIT Guwahati and Airbus India and assured full support from the Assam government.
Assuring scholarships for trainees, CM Himanta also held productive discussions with Japanese academia to further strengthen collaborative efforts with IIT Guwahati.
The chief minister took to the microblogging site X and lauded the agreement for being a key player in global aviation.
He wrote, "My compliments to Airbus and IIT-Guwahati for their initiative to equip 2000 people from Assam and the North East with industry-ready skills. As India continues to rise as a key player in global aviation, these investments will be backed by a robust pool of skilled professionals."
Furthermore, the chief minister said, "We are also pursuing manufacturing hub to create a better ecosystem for semiconductor industry."
