‘I’ll win by 1 lakh votes’: Badaruddin Ajmal sounds poll bugle in Nagaon

AIUDF chief and former Lok Sabha MP Badaruddin Ajmal on September 17 campaigned among voters at Kachuwa Tiniali in Assam’s Nagaon district, a day after filing his nomination papers.

Addressing people during the campaign, Ajmal said the candidate who has the support and affection of the people of Kachuwa will emerge victorious.

Ajmal also claimed that he would win the election by a margin of one lakh votes in the Nagaon bypolls.

He said the main electoral contest would be among the Congress, BJP and AIUDF.

Responding to a question from journalists about his relationship with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Ajmal said that everyone has a relationship with the Chief Minister.

The AIUDF chief was in Kachuwa as part of his election campaign after submitting his nomination papers on September 16.

Earlier in the day, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal on Thursday, September 17 hit out at the Congress after filing his nomination for the upcoming Nagaon bypoll, claiming that his decision to contest the election had disrupted the Opposition party’s electoral strategy.

Ajmal said the Congress was “in turmoil” because he had entered the race and alleged that the party’s planning had been affected after he was given the ticket by the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).

“Rakibul’s entire planning has failed because Ajmal was given the ticket. The Congress is now disappointed,” Ajmal said after filing his nomination.

He also said the AIUDF would campaign on issues including eviction drives, price rise, education and healthcare during the bypoll.
