Imam’s swift action saves seven lives after car plunges into pond in Assam’s Sribhumi

A late-night accident in Sribhumi Neelam Bazar could have turned tragic if not for the quick thinking and humanity displayed by an Imam. Seven Hindu passengers narrowly escaped death after their Eco vehicle lost control and fell into a roadside pond, leaving them trapped and struggling in the water.

The incident unfolded in the Bahadurpur area when a loud crash broke the silence of the night. Inside the nearby mosque, Imam Maulana Abdul Basit heard the alarming sound and wasted no time responding. Rushing to the mosque’s loudspeaker system, he alerted the entire village, urging immediate assistance.

Residents, awakened by the announcement, sprinted to the scene and pulled the passengers out of the sinking vehicle. All seven individuals were successfully rescued, thanks to the imam’s decisive actions and the quick response of the villagers.

Locals hailed the imam’s role as an example of compassion that transcends religion — a reminder that humanity stands above all divisions.

Authorities are investigating the reason behind the accident, while community members continue praising the heroic effort that turned a potentially fatal night into a story of unity and survival.
