Indian Postal Department unveils special postcard honouring Zubeen Garg on his 53rd birthday

The Indian Postal Department has released a special commemorative postcard featuring the portrait of Assam’s legendary artist Zubeen Garg, marking his 53rd birth anniversary. The postcard was formally unveiled on Wednesday night during the 98th Howly Raas Mahotsav, drawing widespread appreciation from attendees.

 

The ceremonial release was led by Colonel Aravind Verma, Chief Postmaster General of the Assam Postal Circle. He was joined on stage by Hemen Das, President of the Raas Mahotsav Celebration Committee, and Dr. Bhushan Chandra Pathak, Principal of B.H. College and noted author.

 

Speaking at the event, Colonel Verma said the commemorative postcard represents a heartfelt tribute to an artist whose influence transcends generations. Describing Zubeen Garg as an immortal icon of Assam, he said the Postal Department considers it an honour to bring out a postcard celebrating his life and legacy.

 

Colonel Verma highlighted that Zubeen Garg’s values—particularly his compassion and kindness—continue to inspire countless people. He expressed confidence that the postcard would help carry forward those ideals, reaching audiences across India and beyond.

 

The Chief Postmaster General added that Zubeen Garg’s cultural impact extends far outside the country, and through this special release, his message and musical legacy would resonate globally.

 

The unveiling of the postcard at the Howly Raas Mahotsav added a significant cultural dimension to the festival, marking a poignant tribute to one of Assam’s most cherished artists.
