The Indian Red Cross Society, Margherita Sub-District Branch, in collaboration with Ramkrishna Mission, Digboi, successfully organized a voluntary blood donation camp and awareness programme at Ramkrishna Mission, Digboi. The initiative aimed to promote awareness about the critical need for safe blood donations to save lives.
The event was chaired by Dipak Bhattacharjee, a lifetime member of the Indian Red Cross Society, while Pabitra Borgohain, General Secretary of the Margherita Sub-District Branch, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of voluntary blood donation in ensuring an adequate and safe blood supply for patients in need.
Several distinguished guests graced the occasion, including Swami Arunatmananda Maharaj, Secretary of Ramkrishna Mission, Digboi, Anil Saikia, retired teacher of Soumarpith Vidyalaya, Digboi, Lakhinandan Gogoi, retired Deputy Commissioner, Diganta Saikia, noted social worker, Dr. Pramod Deb, Dr. Gautam Purkayastha, Vice Principal of Margherita College, and Dibakar Bhattacharjee, retired General Manager of IOCL, Digboi. The speakers highlighted the life-saving benefits of blood donation and encouraged greater participation in such noble causes.
A total of 48 donors came forward to donate blood, which was later transported to Tinsukia Civil Hospital by the blood collection team.
The programme received strong support from Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Assam Industrial Security Force (AISF), and Ramkrishna Mission, Digboi, ensuring its smooth execution and success.
