IndiGo cancels Silchar-Guwahati flight after delay, passengers left stranded at Airport
Chaos and frustration gripped Silchar Airport on July 28 after an IndiGo flight bound for Guwahati was abruptly cancelled nearly three hours after its scheduled departure time, leaving around 200 to 250 passengers stranded.
According to sources, IndiGo flight 6E-6413 was scheduled to depart for Guwahati but remained delayed for several hours before the airline announced its cancellation. The sudden decision triggered protests and anger among passengers, many of whom had been waiting at the airport since the scheduled departure time.
Passengers alleged that the flight was cancelled after one of the four crew members reportedly fell ill at the last moment, making it impossible to operate the service. However, IndiGo had not issued any official statement on the reason for the cancellation at the time of filing this report.
The unexpected cancellation caused considerable inconvenience, particularly for passengers travelling to Guwahati for urgent personal and professional commitments. Many expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in informing them about the cancellation and the lack of timely communication from the airline.
To manage the situation, IndiGo reportedly arranged alternative travel for the affected passengers. Those with urgent travel requirements were accommodated on the first flight to Guwahati on the morning of July 28, while the remaining passengers were rebooked on afternoon services.
Despite the alternative arrangements, passengers criticised the airline for the prolonged wait and last-minute cancellation, urging IndiGo to improve its communication and contingency planning to minimise inconvenience in such situations.
