Jharkhand Elections: Assam CM appeals for unity among party members amid speculations of internal rift

Amid the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, a noteworthy development has unfolded within the BJP ranks. Satyanand Jha, a longstanding BJP leader, has taken a bold step by filing his nomination as an independent candidate, signaling discontent over the party’s selection process.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who also serves as BJP's co-in-charge for Jharkhand elections, has addressed the matter publicly, urging Jha to reconsider his stance for the party’s greater good.

During a recent press interaction, CM Sarma acknowledged the root of Jha’s dissatisfaction, explaining, "In this election, we had the challenging task of selecting a single candidate from the party, and unfortunately, Jha ji was not chosen. His disappointment is understandable, and he has thus decided to run independently." Emphasizing the stakes of the upcoming election, Sarma remarked, "This election is crucial, not just for the BJP but for the future of Jharkhand. We need every party member to stand united to ensure a strong government formation."

In a gesture to mend ties, Sarma revealed that the BJP has proposed a senior role within the state or central government for Jha as an alternative to his independent candidacy. "Jha ji is a veteran in the BJP, with years of dedicated service. I’ve come here personally to request him to withdraw his nomination and work for the party's success. He has promised to consider the proposal after consulting his supporters and party workers," Sarma added.

As the BJP focuses on solidifying its strategy in Jharkhand, the party’s approach to addressing internal dissent may prove pivotal in its campaign trajectory.
