Jogighopa police arrest man with fake gold boat in Assam’s Bongaigaon

Jogighopa Police arrested a man allegedly involved in the smuggling of fake gold during an operation near the Durga Temple at Chaltapar in Assam’s Bongaigaon district.

The accused has been identified as Sahidul Islam, a resident of Helapakhari in Chaltapar.

The operation was carried out by Jogighopa Police with assistance from the Bongaigaon RFT. During the operation, police detained Islam and recovered a fake gold boat weighing 1.536 kg from his possession.

Following the seizure, Jogighopa Police handed over Islam to Abhayapuri Police. The latter formally arrested him and has launched an investigation into the alleged smuggling network.
