JP Nadda visits flood-ravaged Santak, Nepali Khuti in Sivasagar; meets affected families

Union Health Minister and BJP national president J.P. Nadda on August 5 visited the flood-ravaged Santak and Nepali Khuti areas of Assam’s Sivasagar district to assess the extent of devastation caused by the recent floods and interact with affected residents.

During the visit, Nadda met families hit by the deluge and listened to their concerns over the widespread damage to homes, agricultural land, livestock and public infrastructure. He also reviewed the relief and rehabilitation measures being undertaken in the affected villages.

The BJP president enquired about the availability of essential relief materials and the assistance being provided to displaced families. He assured residents that their concerns had been noted and that the government remained committed to supporting those affected by the disaster.

Santak and Nepali Khuti are among the worst-hit areas in Sivasagar, where the recent floods caused extensive damage and disrupted the lives and livelihoods of thousands of people. Several families lost their homes and belongings, while floodwaters also damaged roads, embankments and large stretches of farmland.

Nadda’s visit comes amid intensified efforts by the Assam government and district administration to assess losses, provide immediate assistance and begin rehabilitation work in the flood-affected areas.

The Union minister’s visit is part of the government’s ongoing review of the flood situation in Upper Assam, particularly in Sivasagar and neighbouring districts that bore the brunt of the devastating deluge.
