            <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item"><p>A special POCSO court in Assam's Kokrajhar on September 11 sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl who was studying in Class 10 in 2022.</p>

<p>The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict, Sahidul Ali. In case of failure to pay the fine, he will have to undergo an additional six months of imprisonment.</p>

<p>Special Judge Nurjamal Hoque pronounced the verdict while hearing Special Case No. 28/2022, arising out of Kokrajhar Police Station Case No. 216/2022. </p>

<p>The court found Ali guilty under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.</p>

<p>According to Special Public Prosecutor Manjit Kumar Ghos, Ali, who was in his mid-30s at the time, had allegedly kidnapped and raped the Class 10 student in 2022.</p>

<p>The court's conviction followed the trial in the case registered at Kokrajhar Police Station.<br>
