Leopard pups rescued in Assam’s Boko, shifted to State Zoo

Two leopard pups were rescued from the Saikata area in Boko under the West Kamrup Forest Division on Sunday, May 3 morning.

The rescue operation was carried out around 11 a.m. by officials of the Bandapara Regional Forest Office with assistance from local residents. Forest personnel, led by Range Officer Kulumanali Gogoi, safely retrieved the endangered cubs from the area.

Following the rescue, veterinary experts conducted a health examination of the leopard pups. Officials later shifted the animals to the State Zoo in Guwahati for safe custody, treatment and further care.

According to forest officials, the rescued leopard cubs are estimated to be around three to four months old.

The successful operation highlighted the coordinated efforts of the forest department and local villagers in protecting wildlife and ensuring the survival of the rare species.
