Like the Brahmaputra, development flows uninterruptedly in Assam: Modi inaugurates Guwahati Airport Terminal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 20, inaugurated the new terminal building of the Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport, describing it as another milestone in Assam’s development journey.

Addressing a gathering after the inauguration, the Prime Minister said that Assam was witnessing uninterrupted development under the BJP’s “double-engine government.” Drawing a parallel with the state’s lifeline, he said, “Just as the Brahmaputra River flows continuously in Assam, similarly, the stream of development is flowing uninterruptedly here.”

Modi said his deep emotional connection with Assam and the Northeast continued to inspire him. “My attachment to the soil of Assam, the love and affection of the people here, and especially the love of the mothers and sisters of Assam and the Northeast, constantly inspire me and strengthen our resolve for the development of the region,” he said.

The Prime Minister added that the inauguration of the new terminal marked the beginning of a fresh chapter in Assam’s growth story and would significantly boost connectivity, tourism, and economic activity in the Northeast.

The upgraded terminal is expected to enhance passenger handling capacity and improve travel infrastructure, reinforcing Guwahati’s role as a key gateway to the northeastern states.
