Man arrested for alleged arson at warehouse in Assam's Silchar

Police have arrested a man identified as Mani Majumdar in connection with the alleged arson at the warehouse of Lovely Interiors in North Krishnapur, Silchar, on October 26.

Following the incident, warehouse owner and proprietor of Lovely Interiors, Misbah Rajkhan, had lodged a written complaint at the Rangirkhari Police Outpost, prompting an investigation.

Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation and subsequently arrested Majumdar from his father-in-law’s residence in Malugram.

The accused was produced before a court on Sunday and remanded to judicial custody following the court’s order.

After the arrest, Rajkhan thanked the police and the administration, expressing full faith in the law and the authorities. He also stated that if Majumdar or his son were to commit any similar incident after his release from jail, he would again seek legal recourse.

The allegations are under investigation, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
