Man arrested in Kerala for allegedly hacking account, posting Rs 2-crore threat to kill Assam CM

Juria Police in Assam's Nagaon district arrested a man in Kerala for allegedly hacking another person's social media account and using it to post a threat to kill Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in exchange for Rs 2 crore, police said.

The accused, identified as Rashidul Haque of Dhing Chapori in Juria, was arrested in Kerala, according to police.

Haque allegedly hacked the social media account of Mobarak Ali of Gadaimari in Juria and posted a threatening message offering to assassinate the Chief Minister for Rs 2 crore.

During questioning, Haque reportedly told police that he carried out the act to take revenge against Ali over a personal dispute.

According to Haque's statement, Ali had allegedly lured his wife into a relationship and eloped with her, leaving behind Haque's differently-abled child. He also alleged that his wife had taken Rs 5 lakh with her.

Police have initiated further investigation into the alleged hacking, the social media post and the circumstances surrounding the threat.
