Man dies after electric pole falls on him in Guwahati's Kahilipara

A man died after an electric pole fell on him while he was on his way to pick up his child from tuition on Monday night. The incident took place in the Kahilipara area of Guwahati. The deceased has been identified as Jitu Hazarika, a 38-year-old school bus driver for RNS Academy in Kahilipara.

Local residents have expressed outrage, blaming the accident on the sub-standard quality of work and negligence by the authorities. They are now demanding the removal of all old and worn-out electric poles in the area to prevent further tragedies.

According to witnesses, the accident happened when Hazarika, who lived in Lok Bandhu Nagar, was riding his bike to pick up his child. An electric pole, weakened and presumably neglected, suddenly collapsed and struck him, leading to his untimely death.

The public is urging immediate action to address the issue of deteriorating infrastructure, emphasizing the need for stringent measures to ensure public safety and prevent such incidents in the future.
