Man found dead inside Silchar decorator's shop, family alleges he was held over money dispute
A man was found dead inside a commercial establishment in Silchar's Saratpally area on October 5, triggering concern and raising questions over the circumstances surrounding his death.
The deceased, identified as a resident of Gangapur, was reportedly associated with decoration work.
According to police, his body was recovered from inside Maa Padma Mansa Decorators after the shop's shutter was opened in the presence of police on Monday morning.
The man's family has alleged that the owner of the establishment had kept him inside the shop since Sunday over a dispute related to outstanding payments.
The family claimed that efforts were made to resolve the matter through a settlement, but no resolution was reached.
They also said that when the man could not be traced on Sunday night, family members searched for him at several locations.
The body was subsequently recovered from inside the establishment on Monday morning in the presence of its owner and police personnel.
The circumstances surrounding the man's death, including how and when he died, remain unclear.
A forensic team visited the spot and collected samples as part of the investigation.
Police have started an investigation into the incident. The exact cause of death is expected to become clear after the post-mortem examination and further investigation.
Police are also examining whether anyone was involved in the man's death and the circumstances in which his body was found inside the commercial establishment.
