            <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item"><p>A man from Bongaigaon was killed in a hit-and-run accident at Kalahbhanga near Barpeta Road on April 22 while on his way to attend a wedding.<br>
 </p>

<p>The deceased has been identified as Habibur Rahman, a resident of Bhandara village under Manikpur Police Station. He was travelling on a motorcycle with his relative, Amir Hussain, to attend a wedding at Manipuri Basti in Barpeta Road when an unidentified vehicle hit them and fled the scene.<br>
 </p>

<p>According to reports, the impact of the collision threw Rahman off the motorcycle, following which he came under the wheels of a passing goods-laden truck. He died on the spot after being crushed under the truck.<br>
 </p>

<p>Hussain, who was riding with Rahman, narrowly escaped with his life.<br>
 </p>

<p>Police reached the spot soon after the incident and recovered the body. The accident has cast a pall of gloom over the area. An investigation has been initiated to trace the unidentified vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.</p>
