Man reportedly missing near India-Bangladesh border in Cachar; kidnapping allegation sparks concern

Tension gripped a border area in Assam's Cachar district on Tuesday after a man reportedly went missing while cutting grass near his home, with local residents alleging that he may have been abducted by Bangladeshi miscreants.

The missing person has been identified as Ranjit Das (28), a resident of Narsinghpur in the Rajtilak area under the Katigorah Assembly constituency. According to family members and local residents, Das had gone out to cut grass near his residence in the morning but failed to return home.

As concerns grew over his whereabouts, family members and villagers launched a search operation. Local residents have alleged that Das was taken across the border by Bangladeshi miscreants, although no official confirmation has been issued by authorities so far.

The incident has triggered panic and anxiety among residents in the border region, with many expressing concern over security in the area.
