Manas festival aims to put Manas National Park in the global spotlight

To mark National Tourism Day, the much-awaited Manas Festival will be held at Bamboo Bari, located within Manas National Park in Baksa district. The six-day event will kick off tomorrow, with the inauguration graced by several prominent figures, including State Cabinet Minister Ranjit Kumar Das, BTR Chief Pramod Boro, and MLA Phanidhar Talukdar.

The festival’s primary goal is to offer visitors an immersive experience of the park's breathtaking natural beauty, while also celebrating the rich cultural diversity of the region's ethnic communities. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore local arts, culture, and traditional cuisine.

A notable highlight is the active participation of the local population, with 80% of the educated residents already engaged in tourism-related livelihoods. The festival seeks to further boost this involvement, aiming for full participation from the local community in the tourism sector surrounding the park.

This initiative not only showcases the natural and cultural assets of the area but also plays a key role in making the park more accessible to tourists. It is expected to enhance the socio-economic conditions of the local population while positioning Manas National Park as a premier global tourist destination.
