Manipur violence: Assam CRPF jawan martyred in attack by armed militants in Bishnupur district

Nasir Uddin Sarkar, CRPF jawan hailing from Bhella in Barpeta, Assam was martyred in a bomb attack perpetrated by armed miscreants in Bishnupur district. 

Nasir Uddin Sarkar, whose residence is in Bhella's Banbaria village, had served in the 128th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). 

His son, Ajiruddin Sarkar, speaking to reporters amidst profound grief recounted the moment when the family received the news. "We received a call from Manipur early in the morning. It was my father's friend from headquarters, who informed us that my father had been martyred in Manipur," Ajiruddin said.

Nasir Uddin Sarkar's demise leaves behind his son Ajiruddin Sarkar, wife Amena Begum and Sukanya Narjima Begum. As the family reels from the loss of their loved one, Ajiruddin Sarkar voiced a plea to the government, urging support for his family in the wake of his father's death. "I urge the government to look after my family, as my father was the sole earner," he said. 

Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel fell victim to bomb attacks believed to be carried out by armed miscreants in Bishnupur district in Manipur. Among the casualties was Nasir Uddin Sarkar, a CRPF jawan from Bhella in Barpeta, Assam, who was martyred in the line of duty. Additionally, two other CRPF personnel lost their lives in the attack on the Naransena area of Bishnupur district.

The assault, which commenced at midnight and persisted until 2:15 am, targeted the outpost of B/128 Bn CRPF at Naransena. Armed groups reportedly fired towards a village in the Naransena area, resulting in a bomb detonating inside the CRPF outpost. The explosion caused injuries to four personnel, including Insp/Gd Jadav Das, SI/GD N Sarkar, HC/GD Arup Saini, and CT/GD Aftab Hussain. SI/GD N Sarkar and HC/GD Arup Saini succumbed to their injuries, adding to the toll of lives lost in the reprehensible act of violence.

In the wake of the despicable attack, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh condemned the assault on Indian security forces and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families. Labeling the attack as an act of cowardice, Chief Minister Singh stated the dedication of security forces striving to maintain peace and stability in the state. He reassured the public that the sacrifices made by these brave personnel will not be forgotten.

"Strongly condemn the assault carried out against the Indian security forces, resulting in the tragic loss of two CRPF personnel in the Naransena area of Bishnupur district. Such actions demonstrate cowardice against dedicated security personnel who work tirelessly day and night to uphold peace and stability in the state. Their sacrifice will not go in vain," wrote Chief Minister Biren Singh on his official X handle.
