Mason caught during alleged burglary attempt in Dibrugarh’s Shamshanpara

An attempted burglary in the Shamshanpara area of Dibrugarh triggered tension after a mason was caught red-handed inside a residence in the absence of the homeowner.

According to local sources, a group of labourers from Dhubri and Goalpara districts had recently arrived in Dibrugarh for masonry work. They were reportedly brought in by a local contractor for construction assignments in the locality.

It is alleged that two workers, identified as Ramiz Ali and Ashraful Ali, entered a house with the intention of committing theft while the owner was away. However, alert residents noticed suspicious movement and intervened, managing to apprehend one of the accused on the spot.

The incident led to a brief commotion in the neighbourhood, with locals confronting the accused before handing him over to the police. Law enforcement personnel arrived shortly thereafter and took the individual into custody for questioning.

Police have initiated an investigation to determine whether others were involved in the attempted burglary. Residents of the area have voiced concern over security and called for stricter monitoring of temporary workers engaged in residential localities.

The episode has renewed concerns over neighbourhood safety and the need for precautionary measures when homes are left unattended.
