A massive fire broke out late September 5 night at Naobhanga Market under Chamaria revenue circle in Assam, destroying several business establishments and causing heavy financial losses.
The blaze, which erupted under unknown circumstances, quickly spread through four to five shops, reducing them to ashes before fire tenders could bring the situation under control.
The affected business owners include Sobahan Ali, Melan Ali, Nur Mohammad, Majam Ali, and Surut Ali, all of whom suffered significant financial losses as their establishments were completely gutted.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire spread rapidly, raising panic among nearby residents and traders.
While the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, preliminary assumptions suggest a possible electrical short circuit as the source.
Local authorities have initiated an inquiry into the incident, and efforts are underway to assess the total damage and provide necessary support to the affected parties.
No casualties have been reported so far. The incident has however once again highlighted the urgent need for improved fire safety infrastructure in rural marketplaces across the district.
