Massive night fire guts house in Rangapara, resident escapes narrowly

A devastating fire broke out late at night in Rangapara in Assam’s Sonitpur district, reducing a residential house to ashes and leaving its lone occupant narrowly escaping with his life.

The incident occurred near the Rangapara Railway New Colony, where the house of a man identified as Prabhat Das caught fire under circumstances that are yet to be officially confirmed. The blaze spread rapidly, completely gutting the structure within a short span of time.

According to local residents, Das, who lives alone, managed to escape just in time, thereby averting a fatality. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and attempted to control the flames, but the intensity of the fire made firefighting efforts unsuccessful, resulting in total destruction of the house.

While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, locals suspect that it may have originated from sparks while Das was lighting a fire to keep warm amid the winter chill. Authorities have taken note of the incident, and further details are awaited.

The incident has caused concern among residents of the area, highlighting the risks associated with open fires during the winter season.
