Midnight drug bust in Margherita: Two youths held with heroin

In a decisive move against the drug menace, Margherita police, aided by alert local residents, apprehended two youths with suspected heroin during a midnight operation on Friday at No. 1 Lazum under Margherita police station in Tinsukia district.

The accused have been identified as Jagat alias Lachman Damai of Dibang Phakial village and Raj Lahan of Margherita Block Tiniali. 

Police recovered 1.16 grams of a substance suspected to be banned heroin from their possession.

Authorities are yet to confirm whether the narcotics were intended for personal consumption or for sale. 

The duo is now in custody, and a case has been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, as part of the ongoing anti-drug operations in the region.
