MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah visits family of attacked youth who died in Nalbari incident, assures support
Amid growing public outrage over the Gangapur attack case in Assam's Nalbari district, Nalbari MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah on June 2 visited the residence of slain student leader Madhurjya Barman to express his condolences to the bereaved family.
Baruah was accompanied by Barkhetri MLA Narayan Deka. The legislators met the family members, conveyed their sympathies and assured them of all possible support during this difficult time.
Speaking to reporters during the visit, Jayanta Malla Baruah said the incident had deeply shocked the state and reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring justice.
Referring to allegations surrounding the case, the MLA stated that incidents described by some as "love jihad" were increasing in the state and termed the trend "deeply saddening." He said the government would take the strictest possible action against those involved in such crimes.
Baruah also informed that the government would extend financial assistance to the family of Madhurjya Barman.
When asked whether the government would take action against the property of deceased accused Roz Ali, including the possibility of a bulldozer drive, Baruah said such decisions would be taken by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He added that further decisions may be made after the Chief Minister visits Madhurjya Barman's residence.
The visit comes amid widespread public concern and demands for justice following the incident, which claimed the life of Madhurjya Barman and left a young woman critically injured, triggering protests and strong reactions across the region.
