"More will join BJP, have to Google who Imran Masood is”: Assam CM takes a dig on Congress

Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, March 18, said that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to witness a fresh wave of inductions in Assam, with several leaders expected to join the party in the coming days ahead of the Assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Sarma said individuals, including Navajyoti Talukdar, who resigned from Congress, are likely to formally join the BJP in Guwahati soon. He indicated that the party is in the final stages of preparing its list of candidates, which is expected to be cleared later in the day.

“There are a lot of people like Navajyoti Talukdar and others who will join in Guwahati. We are going to clear our party list for candidates this evening,” Sarma said, underlining the party’s accelerated preparations for the upcoming polls.

The Chief Minister further added that the process of political realignment is not limited to a single event, noting that additional leaders are expected to join the BJP within the next two to three days across Assam.

When asked about specific individuals, including Congress leader Imran Masood, Sarma refrained from making detailed comments, stating, “I don’t want to comment on individuals because who Imran Masood is, it will take time for me to Google and find out.”
