Morigaon police return 52 stolen mobile phones to owners on New Year’s Day
The Morigaon police brought cheer to 52 individuals on the very first day of the New Year by returning stolen and lost mobile phones recovered from different parts of the country.
The mobile phones had been stolen over the past year from areas under various police stations in Morigaon district. Acting on complaints lodged by the victims, the police traced and recovered the devices from several locations, including Kerala and Meghalaya.
On January 1, the recovered 52 mobile phones were formally handed over to their rightful owners at the office of the Superintendent of Police. The handover was carried out under the leadership of the Senior Superintendent of Police, with officers-in-charge of nine police stations present during the programme.
The recovery was made possible through sustained investigation and coordination by the district police based on FIRs filed by the affected individuals after their phones were lost or stolen.
Expressing happiness and relief, the beneficiaries thanked the Morigaon police for their efforts. Many said receiving their lost mobile phones on the first day of the year made the occasion especially meaningful and praised the police for their prompt and dedicated work.
