A family travelling in a white Maruti Brezza experienced a sudden fire while driving on the Manja-Dimapur stretch of the National Highway in Karbi Anglong district, Assam, on February 1, Sunday. The incident occurred near Rongpling Plam Goan village, under the jurisdiction of Dilai Police Station. The car, bearing registration number AS-09-J-3511, is registered to Longting Signar, a resident of Jiso Rongpi in Daldali area.

Arkush Marak, who was driving, was accompanied by his family members during the journey from Daldali. The group was heading towards Bokajan when the event unfolded. The fire began unexpectedly whilst they were en route, drawing immediate attention to the moving vehicle. Eyewitnesses travelling on the highway reported seeing smoke billowing from the car before flames quickly engulfed the engine compartment, causing panic among nearby motorists and passersby.

As the situation escalated, all occupants of the vehicle were able to exit safely before the fire intensified. Reports confirm that no injuries occurred during the incident, and everyone present managed to avoid harm. The timely evacuation prevented further risk to the family members travelling in the car. The quick thinking and calm response of the driver and his family ensured that they escaped just in time, moments before the fire spread to the rest of the vehicle.
