Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has strongly refuted the BJP's allegations against him and his wife, terming them as part of a "mischievous, baseless, and malicious campaign" aimed at diverting public attention from the ruling party’s failures.
Gogoi cited a statement by Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, who suggested that these accusations were politically motivated with Assam Assembly elections just a year away. He asserted that the BJP government has failed to fulfill its promises and, in an attempt to mask its shortcomings, is resorting to unfounded attacks.
"We will take appropriate action against this defamation. However, I have full faith in the people of Assam, who can recognize this slander for what it is. Just as the people of Jharkhand rejected Himanta Biswa Sarma's rhetoric in the Vidhan Sabha elections, I believe the same wisdom will guide Assamese voters," Gogoi stated.
Expressing confidence in the electorate, he predicted that the BJP's smear campaign would backfire, paving the way for a Congress-led government in Assam in the upcoming elections.
