In an overnight raid, the cyber cell of Mumbai police, in collaboration with the Morigaon district police, launched a major crackdown on cybercriminal activities in the Lahorighat area of Assam’s Morigaon district on April 16.
The joint operation was spearheaded by senior officials, including the Superintendent of Police and Additional Superintendent of Morigaon, alongside a five-member special team from Mumbai’s Cyber Crime Branch. The mission targeted a suspected cybercrime ring operating in the region.
As a result of the raid, five individuals allegedly involved in cybercriminal activities were arrested. One of the suspects attempted to evade capture by hiding inside a ceiling compartment but was successfully apprehended by the police.
The operation, which extended through the night, marks a significant step in inter-state cooperation between Maharashtra and Assam police forces in combating rising cybercrime threats.
