NDA will win 15 of 15 BTC seats: Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a major election rally in Bijni constituency of Chirang district, braving adverse weather conditions.

Amid speculation over a reported late-night conversation with Akhil Gogoi, the Chief Minister declined to comment on the matter.

Highlighting the political scenario in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Sarma stated that the UPPL is currently not a part of the NDA.

He asserted that the NDA in the region consists of the BJP and BPF, adding that both parties must stay united for the development of the BTC. He further noted that since the UPPL is contesting the elections separately, it remains outside the alliance.

Expressing strong confidence in the alliance’s performance, the Chief Minister said that the NDA is certain to win all 15 out of 15 BTC seats. He also reiterated that BJP candidate Arup Kumar Dey is assured of victory in the Bijni constituency.

Despite inclement weather, the campaign continued with a massive turnout. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah cancelled his scheduled rally in Gossaigaon due to bad weather but is expected to continue campaigning in the constituency.

The rally witnessed the presence of key leaders, including BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary and Union Minister Rameswar Teli, along with thousands of supporters who gathered despite the challenging weather conditions.
