Never seen such destructive politicians: Himanta Biswa Sarma targets Gaurav Gogoi, Rakibul Hussain

Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, launched a sharp attack on the Congress leadership in the state, claiming that party leaders Gaurav Gogoi and Rakibul Hussain are “destructive politicians” who will ultimately weaken and finish the Congress in Assam.

Addressing the media, Sarma said the continued presence of Gogoi and Hussain in the party was politically beneficial for the BJP.

Drawing a comparison with national politics, he remarked that just as Narendra Modi would remain Prime Minister as long as Rahul Gandhi stayed in the Congress, the BJP would continue to form the government in Assam as long as Gogoi and Hussain led the Congress in the state.

“I have never seen such destructive politicians in my life,” Sarma said, accusing the two leaders of damaging their own party’s prospects.

The Chief Minister also criticised the Congress for not accommodating regional allies, referring to Akhil Gogoi-led Raijor Dal. Sarma said that if the Congress had given at least two seats to the party, the electoral contest could have been stronger.

His remarks come amid intensifying political exchanges between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress in Assam.
