The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) has opened a new bus terminal in Khargaon, marking a major step in improving public transport across the region. The facility, inaugurated by BTR Executive Member Ranendra Narzihary, provides a permanent base for Bodoland Transport Services, which previously operated from a rented location.
Speaking at the event, Narzihary emphasised the terminal’s role in supporting regional mobility and enhancing commuter convenience. “This facility addresses a long-standing need and reflects the department’s growing capacity to serve passengers efficiently,” he said.
The terminal also introduces an e-ticketing system, allowing travellers to book tickets online for the first time. Officials said the move aims to make journeys smoother and more reliable for passengers travelling to and from Kokrajhar.
Authorities expect the new terminal to significantly improve comfort, accessibility, and connectivity across Bodoland and neighbouring areas, strengthening the region’s public transport network.
