Newly married woman found dead in Assam's Goalpara, family alleges murder

A newly married woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Assam's Goalpara district, with her family alleging that she was poisoned and murdered by her husband and in-laws.

The incident was reported from Meserbhita village under Lakhipur Police Station in Goalpara district, triggering tension and concern in the locality.

According to family members, the deceased, identified as Samina Khatun of Nidanpur village, had married Rakibul Hussain of Meserbhita around three months ago. The victim's relatives alleged that she had been subjected to physical and mental harassment by her husband and his family since the marriage.

The controversy deepened after Samina's family was informed of her death on Wednesday, June 3. The victim's relatives further alleged that her husband and family members fled after informing them about the incident, raising suspicions over the circumstances surrounding her death.

Claiming that the death was a premeditated murder, the family alleged that Samina was forced to consume poison. They have demanded the immediate arrest of all those allegedly involved in the case and sought strict punishment for the accused.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining all possible angles. Officials said the exact cause of death would be determined only after the post-mortem examination report is received and the investigation is completed.
