"No one will be spared": Congress warns of action against Assam CM over graft charges

Launching a sharp attack on the Assam government, AICC Media Cell Coordinator Hafiz Abbas on Sunday, February 15 accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of misleading the people and engaging in large-scale corruption.

Addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhawan in Bongaigaon, Abbas alleged that the Chief Minister has been deliberately diverting public attention from the state’s pressing issues by making communal remarks and fuelling social discord. He claimed that instead of focusing on governance and development, the state leadership has chosen to polarise society for political gains.

The Congress leader further described Sarma as one of the most scandal-tainted and corrupt ministers in the country’s history, asserting that public dissatisfaction is growing over what he termed as administrative failures and alleged financial irregularities.

Warning of strict action in the future, Abbas said that if the Congress returns to power in Assam, all those allegedly involved in corrupt practices alongside the Chief Minister would be held accountable. “No one will be spared,” he asserted.
