One dead, three injured in lightning strike at Assam-Meghalaya border

A sudden lightning strike at Lampi, a border area between Assam and Meghalaya, claimed the life of one person and left three others critically injured on Monday, September 1 afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Mongal Ray (47), a resident of Gohalkona under Boko. Reports indicate that Ray was struck by lightning while inside his home, succumbing to injuries instantly.

Three others—Tikhor Boro, Dhaneswar Boro, and Parimal Boro—who were near the victim’s residence at the time, sustained serious injuries. All three hail from Gohalkona and were reportedly in Lampi for daily wage work.

The injured were rushed to Boko Primary Health Centre, where officials confirmed that their condition is stable, though they remain under close observation.
