A tragic road accident occurred around 1:30 pm on August 1 on the National Highway near the Raha Higher Secondary School four-point junction in Devaguri, under the jurisdiction of Raha Police Station.
According to eyewitness accounts, a Manipur Police Bolero vehicle bearing registration number NL-07CA-3970, which was reportedly traveling on the wrong side of the road towards Nagaon, collided head-on with a KTM motorcycle (registration number AS-02AT-1424) that was heading from Nagaon towards Raha.
The impact of the collision was so severe that Arnab Bora, one of the riders, died on the spot, while another rider identified as Pal, sustained critical injuries. Locals immediately came to the rescue and rushed the injured youth to a hospital in Nagaon for urgent medical attention.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Bolero vehicle was speeding and moving in the wrong direction, which led to the fatal crash. The collision crushed the motorcycle almost completely.
The incident sparked anger among local residents, who reportedly confronted and restrained the Manipur Police personnel inside the vehicle. However, the situation was brought under control by Raha Police, who intervened promptly and rescued the police officials from the agitated crowd.
The deceased, Arnab Bora, was a resident of Garmari, Raha.
