One killed, another injured in rain-soaked road accident in West Karbi Anglong

One person was killed and another injured in a road accident in Kheroni in West Karbi Anglong district of Assam on Wednesday.

The accident occurred near Purana Basti under the jurisdiction of Kheroni Police Station when a motorcycle collided with a Maruti WagonR car during heavy rain and stormy weather. 

The deceased has been identified as Fuleshwar Chauhan, who died on the spot. Another person, Manik Das, sustained injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment. 

According to preliminary information, both victims were returning home after finishing their daily wage work. They were travelling on a TVS motorcycle from Kheroni towards Kheroni Charali when the collision occurred amid heavy rainfall, which may have reduced visibility and made the road slippery.

The motorcycle involved in the accident bore the registration number AS02 AA9154, while the WagonR car carried the registration number AS-02-AW-0223.

Police personnel rushed to the spot soon after the accident to secure the area and clear the road. Authorities have initiated an investigation and are examining factors such as adverse weather conditions, vehicle speed and possible driver error to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap.
