One killed, four injured in fatal excavator–e-rickshaw collision in Assam's Goalpara

A tragic road accident in Assam’s Goalpara district claimed the life of a 25-year-old man and left four others seriously injured, including a child, triggering panic in the area.

The incident occurred at Domoni in Matia, where an excavator collided head-on with a battery-operated e-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was severe, completely crushing the e-rickshaw.

The deceased has been identified as Shariful Islam (25). Among the injured is Shahid Choudhury from Bamunpara in Matia, along with three others. All the injured, including the child, were rescued in critical condition by local residents with the help of police and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police teams from Matia, along with the Superintendent of Police from Dudhnai subdivision, reached the spot promptly and brought the situation under control.

The accident has sent shockwaves across the locality, with residents expressing concern over road safety and the increasing number of such incidents in the region.
