'One law for all’: Pijush Hazarika pushes for UCC implementation in state, strong 'anti-infiltration' measures
State Minister and BJP candidate from the Jagiroad constituency, Pijush Hazarika, on Wednesday, April 1 reiterated the party’s commitment to implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), stating that it would be enforced within three months of the BJP returning to power in Assam.
Addressing a public gathering in Hojai, Hazarika asserted that a uniform legal framework was necessary for the country, arguing that “there should be one law for all citizens.” He expressed confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, stating that the government has a record of fulfilling its commitments. “Himanta Biswa Sarma does what he says. We will implement everything promised in the manifesto,” he said.
The minister also raised the issue of illegal infiltration. He stated that the government would take firm steps to “remove infiltrators” and act in accordance with its stated policy priorities.
In a sharp political remark targeting the opposition, Hazarika claimed that public support was firmly behind the BJP, adding that turnout at Congress rallies would be negligible. “No one will go to Congress’s public meeting,” he said.
