One seriously injured in land dispute clash in Assam’s Goalpara
A man was seriously injured following a land-related clash at Purba Simlubari village under Lakhipur police limits in Assam’s Goalpara district, police said.
The incident occurred in the village falling under the jurisdiction of Lakhipur Police Station. According to preliminary information, four persons identified as Shahidul Islam, Manik Uddin, Sobahan Ali alias Garo, and Bijoy allegedly attacked a co-villager, Jamir Uddin Akand, with sharp weapons over a land dispute.
Jamir Uddin Akand sustained grievous injuries in the attack. He was immediately rushed to Lakhipur Hospital for treatment. However, as his condition deteriorated and was reported to be critical, doctors referred him to Goalpara for advanced medical care.
Police personnel reached the spot soon after receiving information about the clash and initiated an investigation. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the accused, who are currently absconding, officials said.
