Our probe is different from Singapore’s: Himanta on Zubeen Garg case
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on January 15 declined to comment on the proceedings in Singapore’s coroner’s court related to the death of singer Zubeen Garg, stating that political leaders should maintain distance from matters under judicial consideration.
Responding to media queries, Sarma said that the Singapore Police had submitted a report after completing their investigation, which was examined by the court there. He emphasised that the investigation into Zubeen Garg’s death being carried out in Singapore and the probe underway in Assam are separate processes, each following its own legal framework.
“Whatever you have read in the media, I have also read the same. Our investigation is different, and theirs is different,” the Chief Minister said, adding that it would not be appropriate for him to offer further remarks on the issue.

Sarma cautioned that any political statement on the matter could be interpreted in different ways by the public. “Since the matter is before the court, politicians should not interfere. We should stay away from what the court has said,” he asserted.
The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid heightened public attention and debate following developments in the Singapore coroner’s court and the parallel investigation being conducted by Assam Police in connection with the singer’s death.
