Over 100 join Raijor Dal as party steps up poll campaign in Margherita
With only a few months left for the Assam Assembly elections, political activity has intensified across the state as parties step up efforts to strengthen their organisations and reach out to voters.
As part of these preparations, the Raijor Dal on January 5 organised a workers’ meeting and joining programme at the India Club in Margherita, aimed at consolidating the party’s base in the region.
The programme was attended by Raijor Dal president and Sibsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi, who was present as the chief guest. Several senior party leaders and workers also took part in the meeting.
During the joining programme, more than 100 people formally joined Raijor Dal. The event was attended by Rahul Chetry, the party’s nominated candidate from the Margherita Assembly constituency, and Rupam Ghosh, president of the Margherita Assembly Constituency Committee, along with other party officials.
Welcoming the new members into the party fold, Akhil Gogoi urged them to actively participate in strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level. He also sought the cooperation of party workers and supporters to resist the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Party leaders said the meeting focused on organisational strengthening, election preparedness and mobilising public support in the Margherita constituency ahead of the polls.
