Over 60 cyclists take out rally honouring Zubeen Garg, plant saplings at Zubeen Kshetra

A cycle rally organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) reached Zubeen Khetra in Sonapur early this morning of November 16, after commencing from the residence of late music icon Zubeen Garg. The event was held as a tribute to the artist’s lifelong passion for fitness, cycling and sports.

Participants described the rally as a symbolic effort to honour the values Zubeen consistently championed.
“Zubeen was a sports enthusiast. On behalf of our organisation, we are paying tribute to him. He strongly supported fitness and sports, and it is our responsibility to keep that spirit alive,” one of the cyclists said.

Another participant highlighted the connection with the singer’s upcoming birth anniversary.
“Ahead of Zubeen’s birthday, we organised this rally as a mark of respect. We will now plant saplings and light a diya at his cremation site,” the member stated.

Upon reaching Sonapur, the team carried out ceremonial tree plantation at Zubeen Khetra and paid floral tributes, offering prayers and extending their respects to the late artist.

Zubeen Garg’s advocacy for cycling, outdoor activities and physical well-being was remembered throughout the event, with SAI members describing him as a continuing source of inspiration for youth and sports lovers across the region.
