The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the activities of Pakistani national Ali Tauqeer Sheikh has unearthed crucial financial transactions linking him to an individual in India.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, addressing the media in a cabinet press briefing, revealed that the SIT is closely examining records to determine how and why Sheikh had been paying a salary to this individual despite them being based in India and not working in Pakistan.
"We have created an SIT to investigate Ali Tauqeer Sheikh and his partners in India. The SIT is now in possession of various irrefutable documents that clearly establish that Ali Tauqeer Sheikh continued to pay one individual in India, despite them not working in Pakistan. This arrangement lasted for a good three years," the Chief Minister stated.

Sarma further informed that the investigation is ongoing, and the SIT will require another two months to complete its probe. The revelation raises serious concerns over possible clandestine operations and financial networks between Sheikh and his associates in India.
Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the individual receiving the funds, but sources suggest that the probe could lead to major developments in the coming weeks.
With the investigation still underway, the Assam government has assured that strict action will be taken against any individuals found to have links with Sheikh’s operations.
