Panchayat polls: High-octane campaigning heats up in Assam's Bandhsidhani

The race for regional posts in the upcoming panchayat elections is gaining momentum in Bandhsidhani Gaon Panchayat, with candidates ramping up their efforts to connect with voters and secure grassroots support.

The BJP-led alliance candidate, Munin Goyari, and independent contender, Anjumoni Medhi, are among the frontrunners, each intensifying door-to-door campaigns and outreach in the region. Their activities reflect a broader trend across Assam, where panchayat election fever has firmly gripped both voters and political parties alike.

Speaking to media representatives, independent candidate Anjumoni Medhi expressed confidence in her growing support base. “Voters are showing overwhelming support for independent candidates. People are disillusioned with party politics and are ready to vote based on individual merit and commitment. I’ve engaged with residents in over 22 villages and the response has been very encouraging,” she stated.

On the other hand, BJP alliance candidate Munin Goyari emphasized the advantage of his party's governance at both the state and central levels. “With the BJP in power across Assam and at the Centre, people see development on the ground. Voters understand that a vote for the BJP alliance is a vote for continued progress,” Goyari remarked.

Campaigning has picked up pace across key areas including Maharani, Nadipar Maharani, and Hakartup. Both camps are making strategic moves to sway undecided voters. Goyari added, “The public is not seeking an opposition voice in this election—they are aligned with our vision of development and governance.”
