Pangolin seized, two arrested in joint operation by forest department and WCCB in Assam’s Bongaigaon
A pangolin was rescued and two persons were arrested during a joint operation by the Abhayapuri Forest Division and the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) in Bongaigaon district.
According to officials, the operation was carried out at Chaltapara in Abhayapuri, where authorities seized a Pangolin and apprehended two accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Osman Gani and Abu Sayeed.
Officials said the region has long been facing allegations of illegal wildlife trafficking, with smugglers targeting protected species such as pangolins.
The rescued animal and the two accused are currently in the custody of the Abhayapuri Forest Division as further investigation into the wildlife smuggling case is underway.
