Parents protest alleged change in scholarship terms at Dibrugarh coaching institute, students asked to pay full fees

Parents of students enrolled at the Allen Institute in Dibrugarh have raised objections over alleged withdrawal of scholarship benefits that they claim were promised to students at the time of admission, with the dispute emerging six months into the academic programme.

According to the parents, several students who qualified through an entrance examination were assured scholarships during the admission process. However, they alleged that the terms were subsequently changed and students are now being asked to pay the full course fees.

The parents have alleged that the change in the scholarship arrangement has placed financial pressure on families and created uncertainty among students about their academic future. They have questioned the basis for altering the terms after admissions had already been completed.

The issue has also drawn the attention of the Youth Commission, which has taken up the matter and warned of a street protest if the alleged decision is not withdrawn.

Parents have demanded that the institute and the concerned authorities clarify the scholarship policy and address the grievances of students who were admitted on the basis of the alleged assurances.

They have further alleged that students and their families were informed about the scholarship benefits during the admission process but are now being asked to make payments that they had not anticipated.

The parents have warned of launching protests if the matter is not resolved and the scholarship benefits are not restored as allegedly promised at the time of admission.
