Patient admitted to ICU after wrong blood group allegedly transfused at Assam's Bongaigaon Medical College
Tension erupted at Bongaigaon Medical College and Hospital after a patient was allegedly transfused with blood of an incorrect blood group, reportedly leaving the patient in a critical condition and necessitating admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The patient’s family alleged gross negligence on the part of the hospital authorities and raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the alleged transfusion error.
Following the incident, two officials from the medical college reached the spot and assured the family that an inquiry committee would be formed to investigate the matter.
The officials also reportedly assured that appropriate action would be taken against two nurses and a doctor who were on duty at the time of the incident.
The situation reportedly calmed down after the assurances were given.
