Physiotherapist from Assam's Morigaon found dead in Odisha, family alleges murder
The body of a young physiotherapist from Morigaon district, who was working outside the state, was found under mysterious circumstances in Cuttack, triggering allegations of a planned murder by his family.
The deceased has been identified as Rohan Kakati, a resident of Morigaon.
According to family members, Rohan Kakati had completed his studies in physiotherapy with distinction from an educational institution in Guwahati and had been working for a long time as a physiotherapist at a residential physiotherapy centre in Cuttack. Well known in the city for his professional work, Kakati had recently returned to his home in Morigaon for personal reasons and left again for Cuttack by air on February 25 to resume duties.
The very next day, on February 26, the family reportedly received a phone call informing them that Rohan had fallen from a building and died. Following the information, his parents and other family members rushed to Cuttack and reached the Kabita Apartment, where he had been staying. However, suspecting foul play behind the circumstances of his death, the family has alleged that it was a premeditated murder.
Based on their suspicion, FIRs have been lodged both in Odisha and at the Morigaon Sadar Police Station, seeking a thorough investigation into the incident. The family has urged the authorities to probe the case from all angles and bring those responsible to justice.
Raising serious concerns over repeated incidents involving alleged harassment and deaths of youths from Assam and the Northeast in other states, the bereaved family has appealed to Himanta Biswa Sarma and the police administration to take appropriate and urgent action.
They have demanded that the culprits be identified at the earliest and awarded exemplary punishment, stating that justice for their son must not be delayed.
